The Ultimate Gamification Guide To 10X Your Community Engagement

Gamification is the talk of the town, and for a good reason! It’s a powerful tool that increases engagement, motivation, and participation in your online course and coaching communities. How many times have you thought to yourself - if only the members in my Facebook Group would interact with my content, they’d become believers like me!

Well, what if there’s low engagement in those spaces because you’re not providing them a reason to be active?

SocialGlow’s use of gamification provides your clients with a reason. It gives each point of action that helps build a sense of community amongst your members a value. That means that everything that your clients do regarding your brand and business has a purpose.

Purpose = Reward.

And people return to systems that reward them for their efforts. It creates a positive association with the experience you provide them through the SocialGlow App, so they are more likely to return and continue to invest, increasing your income potential.

It sounds like magic, right? So let’s break down how it works.

There are two forms of motivation that you want to influence - intrinsic and extrinsic.

Intrinsic motivation is the “why” your client joined your group in the first place. Whether that’s because they want to be a part of a community of like-minded individuals or they are hoping to learn something specific, your only job to influence this type of motivation is to find the people that are looking for what you are offering and provide them the opportunity to act on it by inviting them into your SocialGlow group.

But extrinsic motivation is how you keep your clients coming back for more! It influences behavior in the group. When you provide ways for your group members to outwardly showcase their value in the community to others, they will do whatever actions they need to gain that status. Combining these two forms of influence will give you the kind of community you have dreamed about!

Examples of ways to influence extrinsic motivation with SocialGlow’s gamification feature:

Points:

Create a system that rewards your clients with points for completing specific actions such as posting, commenting, or sharing content. You can assign a value to each action task in the Group settings.

When members complete those tasks, their profile will automatically show their points. In addition, because members are given immediate feedback for their contribution to the community, they will feel more motivated to continue doing so.

Leaderboards:

Members can see where they are ranked amongst others in the group. This can create healthy competition and motivate users to interact more to move up on the board.

Challenges and Contests:

Create challenges and contests encouraging users to participate and engage with your community. For example, create a photo or video challenge encouraging users to share their creations with the community and vote on the best submission. On SocialGlow, you can manually award members' points to whoever wins.

How to reward points:

Step 1: From your SocialGlow Dashboard, click Groups.

Step 2: Click the number listed under the “Participants” column beside the group the member is in.

Step 3: Find the member's name on this list, and click the number of points earned under the Points column.

Step 4: Click the Reward Points button.

Step 5: Enter the number of points you want to redeem and why you're rewarding these points. Those points will immediately be added to that group member's point total and onto the leaderboard.

You can create more buzz by creating a post that tags the winner, announces who won, and add a screenshot of their new ranking on the leaderboard. So not only does the member get the immediate reward of points, but they also get recognition!

In your admin dashboard, you’ll see a breakdown of all points each member has earned. You can see the date and time each action took place and when certain members are most active. You’ll also see what kind of interaction each member prefers to use in the group. Do they comment, like, or post more? The dates also help you figure out which of your content and incentives are working and which ones are not. Use this information to cater to your members and personalize their experience in the group and your courses. With SocialGlow, you can provide top-notch service and attention to your members without doing extra work! Cool, right?

Progress Bars and Rewarding Follow-Through:

SocialGlow’s progress bars contribute to gamification by providing a clear and measurable way for your clients to track their progress, stay motivated, receive feedback, and set goals.

The course progress bars show users how far they have come and how much more they need to do to reach the next level. This creates a sense of accomplishment and encourages users to continue participating.

In SocialGlow’s courses, members will see how far along they are in a course. They’ll also receive notifications through email and within the app to remind them to complete their tasks. You can assign points for completing tasks within the course to encourage members to finish your courses and create a more playful experience. It’ll have your clients excited to invest in another one!

Virtual Goods and Currency:

Use points as currency in your SocialGlow group. Members can redeem their points for services like one-on-one coaching, discounted digital products, or even access to an exclusive course.

In SocialGlow, you can give access to courses to some members and not all of them, which means you can use courses as a form of reward in your group! In addition, creating a system where members can exchange their points for goods gives the points they earn even more weight. As a result, your clients will be more motivated to play along! Plus, it provides a sense of ownership and investment in the community.

How to redeem points:

Step 1: From your SocialGlow Dashboard, click Groups.

Step 2: Click the number listed under the “Participants” column beside the group the member is in.

Step 3: Find the member's name on this list, and click the number of points earned under the Points column.

Step 4: Click the Redeem Points button.

Step 5: Fill in the number of points you redeem and the reward they receive. Those points will immediately be deducted from their redeemable points - however, this will not affect the number of points earned in total (on the leaderboard).

Offering your online community members special privileges as a reward for their participation can help build engagement, loyalty, and a sense of belonging.

SocialGlow Gamification features will enhance your client’s experience and influence your desired outcomes!
